Alyssa Foster of the volleyball team has been named the CSUSM Female Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of October 2014. Foster had a banner month for the 24th-ranked Cougars, who went 9-4 during the month. A senior setter, Foster added 449 assists to increase her season total to 1,122, 20th-most in the NAIA. She was also a threat at the net for CSUSM, as she contributed 27 kills while hitting .377 in the process. She recorded two double-doubles, including a 50-assist, 18-dig performance in a 5-set road victory at Westmont (Oct. 28), where the Cougars had previously never won.
