Diego Fontes has been named the CSUSM Male Athlete of the Week for the week of August 26 - Sept. 1, 2013. Fontes, in his debut as a Cougar against Caltech on Aug. 31, scored a pair of goals to help CSUSM to a 5-0 victory in its season opener. He finished off a cross from Eric Lopez to make it 2-0 in the 47th minute before putting the Cougars up 3-0 in the 68th minute with a blast into the upper corner from 25 yards out.
