HAYWARD, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team (26-12, 13-10 CCAA) earned its sixth series win of the season as it swept Saturday's doubleheader against Cal State East Bay (19-22, 10-13 CCAA) by scores of 10-6 and 8-2 at Pioneer Baseball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pioneers went up 1-0 in the bottom of the first on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch to Gio Martini.
- An RBI double to right center by Jake Larson knotted the game at 1-1 in the top of the fourth.
- CSUEB retook the lead at 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single through the right side by Caleb Chance.
- A three-run shot by Canon King in the top of the sixth put CSUSM ahead 4-2.
- The lead went back to the Pioneers in the bottom of the sixth as two runs scored on a fielder's choice before Alijah Ramos put a single through the left side to make it 5-4.
- A sacrifice fly to right by Dominick Najar in the bottom of the eighth gave CSUEB a 6-4 lead heading into the top of the ninth.
- After a wild pitch scored Victor Castaneda and King walked with one out, Jacob Embleton came through with a grand slam and was followed with a solo shot by Zech Samayoa to put the Cougars ahead 10-6.
- The Pioneers were unable to get anything going in the bottom of the ninth as they left two on base to end the game.

- CSUSM reliever Mikey Gray (1-0) earned the win after striking out one while allowing an earned run on four hits and a hit-by-pitch in 3.0 innings.
- CSUEB reliever Lincoln Juarez (4-2) took the loss after surrendering six earned runs on six hits, three walks and two hit-by-pitches while striking out four in 3.1 innings.
- Embleton's grand slam was CSUSM's fifth of the season, and he was the third Cougar to accomplish the task.
- Embleton also notched his team-leading 13th multi-hit game.
- Samayoa recorded his 15th homer of the season, putting him three back of Austin Way's single-season record at CSUSM set in 2008.
- King's homer was his 12th of the year, tying the freshman for the fifth most in a single season at CSUSM.
- The win gave the Cougars at least 25 wins for the third consecutive season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Scoreless after two innings, CSUSM changed that in the top of the third as an RBI fielder's choice by Samayoa, an RBI single by Stephen Espinoza and a two-run single by Victor Castaneda put the Cougars up 4-0.
- An RBI double by Logan Stelling cut the Pioneers' deficit to 4-1 in the bottom of the third.
- An RBI single to center by Samayoa in the top of the fourth put the Cougars back ahead by four at 5-1.
- A sac fly to right by Espinoza and a two-run double to right by Christopher Tampoya gave CSUSM an 8-1 lead in the top of the sixth.
- East Bay was only able to muster one final run in the bottom of the sixth on a sac fly by William James to make it 8-2.

- The Cougars picked up their third series win over a CCAA opponent and a crucial tiebreaker against the Pioneers.
