HAYWARD, Calif. – After winning the series yesterday, the Cal State San Marcos baseball team (26-13, 13-11 CCAA) fell 5-3 in its series finale at Cal State East Bay (20-22, 11-13 CCAA) on Sunday at Pioneer Baseball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Scoreless heading into the top of the fourth, an RBI single to left by Jacob Embleton put the Cougars up 1-0.
- In the bottom of the inning, the Pioneers put up a five-spot with a two-run double by former Cougar Dylan Unangst, an RBI groundout by Micah Cervantes and a two-run single by Cristian Angulo to take a 5-1 lead.
- CSUSM cut the deficit to 5-3 in the top of the sixth with an RBI triple to right by Canon King before an RBI groundout to second by Embleton.

- CSUEB reliever Hunter Timothy (0-1) earned the win after striking out one while allowing two earned runs on two hits and a walk in 2.0 innings.
- CSUSM starter Luke Higgins (1-3) took the loss after giving up five earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two in 3.1 innings.
- Pioneer reliever Gamboa earned the save after striking out three while giving up just a hit in the final 3.0 innings.
