SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team (14-4, 1-2 CCAA) took back-to-back losses to Cal State San Bernardino (7-12, 2-5 CCAA) by scores of 16-12 and 3-2 in Saturday's doubleheader at Dennis A. Pugh Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM began the scoring in the bottom of the second, taking a 6-0 lead on a bases-loaded walk by Daniel Troncale, a grand slam to right by Canon King, and an RBI single up the middle by Michael Ryan.
- The Coyotes responded in the top of the third, cutting the deficit to 6-3 on an RBI double to right center by Tyson Pettingill, an RBI single through the right side by Juni Rodriguez and a sacrifice fly to right by Greg Luna.
- An RBI single up the middle by Pettingill made it a 6-4 game in the top of the fourth.
- CSUSB knotted the game at 6-all in the top of the fifth thanks to an RBI groundout by Jeremy Giesegh and a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch to Dom Dominguez.
- The Cougars retook the lead at 8-6 in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single through the left side by pinch-hitter Jake Callahan and an RBI double by King.
- An RBI single by the Coyotes' Garret Barto trimmed the Cougars' lead to 8-7 in the top of the sixth.
- CSUSB erupted for eight runs in the top of the seventh on a pair of three-run homers by Rodriguez and Barto, a CSUSM throwing error that scored Keedan Nadeau and an RBI single by Eddie Alfaro.
- In the bottom of the seventh, the Cougars plated a run on an RBI double to right center by Christopher Tampoya to make it 15-9.
- CSUSM cut the deficit to 15-12 in the bottom of the eighth on a solo shot by Zech Samayoa and a two-run single by Michael Weber.
- CSUSB plated the game's final run in the top of the ninth on a bases-loaded walk by Pettingill to go up 16-12.
- The Cougars were unable to respond in the bottom of the ninth as they left two on base after a pop up and fly out ended the game.

- CSUSB reliever Devyn Hernandez (1-1) earned the win after striking out one and allowing four earned runs on three hits and three walks in 2.2 innings.
- CSUSM reliever Mason Ali (0-1) took the loss after surrendering six runs (five earned) on six hits, a walk and a hit-by-pitch in 1.2 innings.
- The loss snapped CSUSM's six-game winning streak and was the team's first home loss of the season.

- The Coyotes got on the board first in the top of the fourth as Noah Betanco hit a sacrifice fly to center to plate Greg Luna and make it a 1-0 game.
- CSUSM took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single by Zech Samayoa and an RBI triple by Michael Weber.
- CSUSB knotted the game at 2-2 in the top of the fifth with a solo shot from Jeremy Giesegh, who then made it a 3-2 game in the top of the sixth with an RBI single.
- With two on and two outs in the bottom of the seventh, CSUSM hit into a groundout to end the game.

- Coyote starter Kailer Saunders (3-2) went the distance as he threw a seven-inning complete game and earned the win after striking out four and allowing two earned runs on seven hits.
