SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team (7-13, 4-11 CCAA) stayed within reach into the second quarter before eventually dropping a 77-56 decision to No. 9 Cal Poly Pomona (19-2, 14-1 CCAA) on Thursday evening at The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kaity Haan converted a layup and free throw at 5:26 to pull the Cougars within one at 9-8, but the Broncos closed the quarter on a 9-2 run to lead 18-10.
- Mylah Lewis knocked down a 3-pointer at 9:18 of the second quarter, and Kat Noa followed with a jumper at 8:25 as CSUSM chipped away.
- Hani connected from deep at 6:48 to cut the deficit to 26-20, and Noa's 3-pointer at 4:04 made it 30-27.
- Cal Poly Pomona regained momentum late in the half and took a 35-29 lead into the break after shooting 53.6% (15-of-28) to CSUSM's 46.2% (12-of-26).
- Hani opened the third quarter with another 3-pointer at 9:48 to make it 35-32, but the Broncos responded with a decisive 15-2 run to stretch the lead to 50-34.
- Cal Poly Pomona outscored CSUSM 25-13 in the third quarter and carried a 60-42 advantage into the final period.
- Noa scored six points in the fourth quarter, including a layup at 6:53 and a 3-pointer at 1:25, but the Cougars were unable to close the gap as the Broncos maintained control down the stretch.
