SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team (4-0) overcame a six-run deficit and earned a 13-9 win to sweep its four-game series against Colorado School of Mines (0-4) on Sunday at Dennis A. Pugh Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Orediggers jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the top of the first four RBI singles and two RBI doubles.
- CSUSM broke up the shutout in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring four runs on an RBI double by Max Shor, two bases-loaded hit-by-pitches and one bases-loaded walk.
- Mines took an 8-4 lead in the top of the sixth with a solo shot from Alex Dunagan and a wild pitch that scored Owen Hicks.
- The Cougars finally went ahead 9-8 in the bottom of the sixth with a five-run inning that included a solo homer to left by Leighton Helfrick, an Orediggers error that scored Michael Ryan, a sacrifice fly to center by Shor and an RBI double to right center by Canon King.
- CSUSM tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the seventh with a pair of RBI singles by Stephen Espinoza and Christopher Tampoya to go up 11-8.
- A two-run homer by Jacob Embleton put the Cougars up 13-8 in the bottom of the eighth.
- The Orediggers were able to make it a 13-9 game on a solo shot from Evan Bilter, but back-to-back strikeouts by Jack Clark secured the series sweep.

- Cougar reliever Jack Swanberg (1-0) earned the win after striking out and allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit.
- Oredigger reliever Luke Parker (0-1) took the loss after giving up three runs (two earned) on four hits and a hit-by-pitch while striking out one in 1.2 innings.
- This is the second consecutive year in which CSUSM has swept its opening-series opponent in four games.
- With the win, the Cougars moved to 6-6 all-time against the Orediggers.
