CSUSM's Postseason Run Comes to an End

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The (RV) Cal State San Marcos softball team (43-23) saw its 2025 season come to an end on Friday, dropping back-to-back games (4-1, 3-2) in the NCAA Division II West Super Regional to No. 9 Western Washington (45-11) at CSUSM Softball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • WWU took a 2-0 lead in the third inning on a 2-RBI double to left field by Emma Andrewjeski.
  • The Vikings extended their lead to 3-0 in the fourth on a Kanilehua Pitoy RBI single to second.
  • A blooper by pinch hitter Dahlia Fink in the top of the sixth landed on the right foul line and brought Aneesa Arredondo home from second to make it 3-1.
  • WWU pushed one more run across in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI fielder's choice by Hailey Rath.

QUICK HITS
  • WWU pitcher Kaiana Kong (13-0) recorded the win after tossing a complete game, allowing one run on nine hits and three walks.
  • Cougar starting pitcher Savannah Coyle (12-9) took the loss after giving up two runs on three hits and two walks in 3.0 innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Paige Donnelly hit a solo home run to center field to give CSUSM a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
  • The Cougars doubled their lead in the second on a Makenzie Guiliano RBI single up the middle to make it 2-0.
  • A three-run homer to left by Olivia Matlock gave WWU a 3-2 lead in the fourth inning.

QUICK HITS
  • Viking pitcher Joie Baker (15-7) recorded the win after allowing two runs on four hits in 7.0 innings.
  • CSUSM pitcher Jayline Sloss (19-10) took the loss after giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks in 6.0 innings.
