SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.  – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team (5-17, 5-11 CCAA) fell 71-61 at Cal State San Bernardino (11-11, 10-7 CCAA) on Thursday night at Coussoulis Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Down 12-2 early, the Cougars closed out the first quarter on a 7-0 run.
• The Coyotes took a 31-22 lead into the halftime break after shooting 36.1% (13-of-36) to CSUSM's 30.0% (9-of-13)
• CSUSM was 1-of-7 from behind the arc while the Coyotes were 3-of-9 in the first half.
• Rose Morse led CSUSM in scoring the first 20 minutes with nine points.
• The Coyotes took their largest lead of the game with 5:35 remaining in the third quarter on a pair of made free throws by Rae McCrae that made it 45-23.
• CSUSM answered with a 14-5 run to make it a single-digit lead for CSUSB at 50-41 with 1:29 remaining in the third.
• The Coyotes took a 53-43 lead over the Cougars into the final 10 minutes of play.
• A 3-pointer by Tatum Tamashiro with 3:17 remaining in the game cut the lead to 59-54.
• The Coyotes responded with a 3-pointer of their own by Tarryn Ross at 2:23 to make it 62-54.
• The Cougars never got closer than six points in the remaining two minutes.

 
FAST BREAKS

• The Cougars shot 34.3% (23-of-67) while CSUSB came in at 40.0% (24-of-60).
• CSUSM matched its season high of eight blocked shots set also against the Coyotes on Dec. 7 in San Marcos.
• Rose Morse notched a season-high 23 points.
• The Coyotes outrebounded the Cougars, 54-31.
• CSUSM led in the following categories – steals (13-9), blocked shots (8-5) and made 3-pointers (6-5).  
• CSUSB's Jaida Jackson reached the 1,000-point milestone with a 16-point performance on Thursday night.
