Box Score 2 SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The No. 4 Cal State San Marcos softball team (10-5, 4-4 CCAA) dropped both ends of Saturday's CCAA doubleheader to Sonoma State (6-5, 3-1 CCAA) by scores of 1-0 and 7-4 at CSUSM Softball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM's best scoring opportunity came in the second inning with Paige Donnelly and Jillian Albayati each drawing walks that were sandwiched by a Kestler bunt single to load the bases. The Seawolves got out of the inning with two strikeouts and a fielder's choice.
- SSU went up 1-0 in the top of the third on a groundout to third that scored Melissa Felix who led off the inning with a single.
QUICK HITS
- CSUSM starter Jayline Sloss (6-1) picked up her first loss of the season despite striking out five batters as Sonoma scored one unearned run on four hits and one walk.
- SSU starter pitched a two-hit complete-game shutout, relinquishing six walks and striking out three.
- The loss was CSUSM's first shutout of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A three-run homer by Skylar Linnane put SSU up 3-0 in the second inning.
- The Seawolves added to their lead on Taylor Rapp's 2-RBI single in the third inning.
- An SSU wild pitch set the stage for Fleischman to score and put CSUSM on the board in the fourth to make it 5-1 SSU.
- The Seawolves added two more runs in the seventh on a double steal that plated Giana Hayes and a Rapp RBI single.
- CSUSM did not go quietly into the night, scoring on a bases-loaded walk, a fielder's choice and an SSU error in the seventh before a groundout ended the game.
QUICK HITS
- CSUSM starter Savannah Coyle. (4-3) took the loss after going 2.1 innings, allowing five runs on five hits and one walk.
- SSU reliever Charlie Johnson (4-2) collected the win after 3.2 innings in the circle, giving up three runs (two earned) on three hits and four walks.
- CSUSM reliever Jayline Sloss was the only pitcher in the game to record a strikeout, tallying four in 3.2 innings of action.
