SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team (5-8, 4-3 CCAA) fell 93-88 at Cal State Monterey Bay (5-7, 3-4 CCAA) on Saturday at the Otter Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game began with four consecutive 3-pointers by the Cougars and Otters, tying at 6-all with 18:43 to go in the period.
- Up 15-14 at the 16:03 mark, CSUSM got a layup by Bing Huang and a 3-pointer by Pope to take their largest lead of the half at 20-14 with 15:25 remaining.
- CSUMB scored three consecutive baskets to knot the game at 20-20 after a Jordan Archie jumper with 13:45 left in the half.
- The Cougars upped their lead to five at 29-24 on a 3-pointer by Collins with 9:05 remaining in the period.
- An 8-2 run by the Otters gave them the lead at 32-31 as Joey Billelo got a 3-pointer to go at the 6:16 mark of the period.
- Trailing 35-34, the Cougars scored six unanswered points to go back up 40-35 after a pair of Jayden White free throws with 2:10 left in the half.
- CSUMB ended the half on a 7-2 run and got a 3-pointer by Javon Johnson to go with 20 seconds remaining to knot the game at 42-all.
- Tied at 42 after 20 minutes, CSUSM shot 47.1% (16-of-34) from the field in the first half while knocking down six 3-pointers on 10 attempts (60%). The Otters were 54.8% (17-of-31) from the field and went 6-of-15 (40%) from beyond the arc.
- CSUSM and CSUMB matched each other basket for basket in the first two and a half minutes of the second half to make it a 49-49 game, but a 3-pointer by Charles Johnston and a pull-up jumper by Jailen Nelson gave the Otters a 54-49 lead with 16:29 to go.
- The Cougars came back to knot the game at 58-all after Pope was fouled on a good layup and converted the free throw with 13:14 remaining.
- Tied at 61, CSUSM took its final lead of the game on a Henderson 3-pointer to make it 64-61 with 12:09 to go.
- CSUMB retook the lead for the last time at 65-64 as Ameere Britton made a driving layup with 11:03 left.
- The Cougars kept the deficit to four points or less until a 3-pointer by the Otters' Joe Wall gave CSUMB its largest lead of the game at 82-75 with 4:15 to play.
- A five-point run by CSUSM whittled CSUMB's lead down to 82-80 after a 3-pointer by Henderson with 2:13 remaining, but that was as close as the Cougars came to the Otters' lead as CSUMB kept a cushion of at least three points the rest of the way.
- The Cougars shot 53.3% (16-of-30) in the second half while the Otters shot 51.5% (17-of-33).
