SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team (18-22, 12-18 CCAA) split its final home doubleheader of the year against Cal State East Bay (24-21, 18-17 CCAA) with a 9-2 win in the first game before falling 6-3 in the second game on Saturday at CSUSM Baseball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM scored its first run of the day in the bottom of the second as Luna came home from third while CSUEB threw out a Cougar runner trying to steal second.
- The Cougars went up 4-0 in the bottom of the third on an RBI bunt single by Schnopp and a two-run single to left center by McGrew.
- CSUSM took a 7-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single through the right side by Diaz and a two-run double to left by Schnopp.
- The Pioneers broke up the shutout in the top of the seventh with an RBI single to right by Niko Mollat to make it 7-1.
- The Cougars plated two runs in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI double down the left field line by McGrew and an RBI single to right by Tanner Aoki to go up 9-1.
- East Bay scored the game's final run in the top of the eighth with an RBI single through the right side by Cole Anderson to make it 9-2.

- Cougar starter Nolan Long (1-6) posted a career-high 10 strikeouts while allowing one run on six hits and two walks in a career-high 7.0 innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third as Emilio Luna scored on a RBI fielder's choice by Anthony Pacino.
- The Pioneers went up 4-1 in the top of the fifth on a throwing error that scored Samuel Esparza, an RBI single through the left side by Matthew O'Mahony, an RBI single through the right side by Manny Garcia and a wild pitch that scored Mahony.
- CSUSM cut the deficit to 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth as Tanner Aoki scored on an error by the CSUEB centerfielder before an RBI groundout by Jake Adams.
- A pair of solo shots by the Pioneers' Jacob Klinovsky and Esparza gave East Bay a 6-3 lead.
