SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team (11-19, 5-15 CCAA) fell 4-2 in the series opener against Cal Poly Pomona (22-12, 14-10 CCAA) on Friday at CSUSM Baseball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CPP started the scoring in the top of the fourth inning with an RBI single to second by Darius Price to go up 1-0.
- CSUSM took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth with a chopper up the middle by Rivera that scored Reece and Diaz.
- The Broncos retook the lead in the top of the seventh as Marco Malerba hit a two-out, 0-2 pitch over the centerfield wall to put them up 4-2.

- CPP starter Caleb Reyes (5-1) earned the win after striking out six while allowing two runs on six hits and a hit-by-pitch in 7.0 innings.
- CSUSM reliever Thomas Babineau (0-1) took the loss after allowing three runs on one hit and two walks in one inning.
- Bronco reliever Scott Armstrong earned his second save of the season, allowing just one hit in 2.0 innings.
- Anthony Pacino extended his reached-base streak to 11 games and improved his hitting streak to nine games.
- This was Rivera's team-leading 12th multi-hit game of the season and eighth multi-RBI game.
