SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team (13-19, 7-15 CCAA) earned two walk-off wins against Cal Poly Pomona (22-14, 14-12 CCAA) by scores of 5-4 and 8-7 on Saturday at CSUSM Baseball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CPP went out front at 1-0 with a first-inning solo blast by Nin Burns II.
- The Broncos made it a 2-0 lead in the top of the second with an RBI triple by Cedrick Perez.
- CSUSM scored its first run on a solo shot to left by McGrew in the bottom of the fourth.
- CPP went up 3-1 in the top of the fifth as Marco Malerba scored on a CSUSM throwing error.
- The Cougars knotted the game at 3-all in the bottom of the seventh as Pacino scored on a wild pitch before McGrew was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
- An RBI single by CPP's AJ Nimeh in the top of the eighth gave the Broncos a 4-3 lead.
- With two outs and pinch runner Tyler Seal on third in the bottom of the ninth, Luna hit a game-tying RBI single to left off the new Bronco arm and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Jake Adams then hit a ball to short, but the throw was low and got away from the first baseman as Luna crossed the plate for the game-winning run.

- Cougar reliever Josiah Torres (2-1) earned the win after throwing a spotless 10-pitch inning.
- Bronco reliever Scott Armstrong (3-1) took the loss after allowing the game-winning run.
- CSUSM starter Nolan Long threw a career-high nine strikeouts while allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits and four walks in 5.0 innings.
- This was CSUSM's first win against CPP since April 26, 2019 in San Marcos.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Broncos went up 1-0 on a solo homer by Johnny Pappas in the top of the first.
- Tyler Chaffee gave CPP a 2-0 lead with a solo shot of his own in the top of the second.
- An RBI single up the middle by Pappas put the Broncos out front 3-0 in the top of the fifth.
- CPP scored four runs in the top of the sixth on RBI singles by AJ Nimeh and Chaffee before a two-run single by Pappas gave the Broncos a 7-0 lead.
- CSUSM began chipping away at CPP's lead in the bottom of the sixth with a two-run single up the middle by Rivera and a sacrifice fly by Luna to make it 7-3.
- Entering the final frame down by four, Niko Diaz walked and advanced on a wild pitch before Reece singled to put runners on the corners with no outs. Schnopp then delivered with a two-run double down the left field line to make it 7-5. After Rivera was hit by a pitch, Sean McGrew moved the runners over with a sacrifice bunt. Kyle Morrell came on to pinch run for Rivera at second before Luna hit an RBI single to center to score Schnopp and cut the deficit to 7-6. An RBI single up the middle by Adams scored Morrell and knotted the game at 7-all before Aoki put the game-winning knock into center as Luna scored from second.

- CSUSM reliever Abraham Sanchez (1-0) earned the win on just three pitches as he threw just a third of an inning and was the Cougars' final pitcher of the game.
- CPP reliever Andrew Campbell (0-1) took the loss as he allowed all five of CSUSM's seventh-inning runs on five hits, a walk and a hit-by-pitch.
- At worst, CSUSM has earned the series split against CPP – a first for the program.
- This was the Cougars' first time winning back-to-back games against the Broncos.
