IRVINE, Calif. – The No. 11 Cal State San Marcos softball team dropped both of its games on Saturday in the Concordia University Irvine Kickoff Classic. The Cougars got run-ruled in the morning game against Montana State Billings, 14-4, in six innings before falling 2-1 to Western Oregon in the afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Yellowjackets scattered 10 runs in the first three innings off seven hits and three CSUSM errors that included an inside-the-park home run by Payton Mayer.
- Albayati collected CSUSM's first hit of the game to lead off the bottom of third on a triple up the middle and scored on Guiliano's grounder to shortstop.
- Waymire reached on a muffled MSUB throw, advanced on a wild pitch and moved another 60 feet on Guiterrez's single to the pitcher before scoring on Gianna Lombardi's single off the pitcher.
- The Cougars extended the game with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Guiliano reached on a bunt single and scored on Waymire's triple down the right field line. A groundout by Gutierrez plated Waymire to make it 11-4.
- MSUB extended its lead with three runs on four hits in the top of the sixth.
- The Yellowjackets retired the side to collect the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Wolves got on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead in the third inning on Maddie Doig's ground out to the shortstop that plated Sophie Franklin who reached on a CSUSM error.
- WOU doubled its lead in the sixth on Baylie Kahele's two-out single to right center.
- Kestler's sacrifice fly to left field made it 2-1, scoring Albayati who reached on a double to left center to lead off the inning.
- MSUB retired the next two batters to halt the Cougars' comeback.
