Box Score 2 IRVINE, Calif. – The No. 8 Cal State San Marcos softball team (33-3) took down the top team in the west, No. 2 Concordia University Irvine (38-5), in a doubleheader sweep by scores of 5-4 and 4-2 (8 inn.) on Saturday afternoon at Eagle Field. The Cougars ran their winning streak to 14 games with the sweep, the longest streak in program history in the NCAA Division II era (2016-present).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars put up all five runs in the third inning. After a walk and back-to-back singles by Guiliano and Coyle to load the bases, Donnelly was struck in the arm to give CSUSM a 1-0 lead. The Cougars took advantage of two consecutive errors by CUI's third baseman to score four more runs in the inning and take a 5-0 lead.
- The Eagles put together a four-run rally in the seventh on a single by Kendall Flatt, a hit by pitch by Jasmine Gorman and a 2-RBI single by Sydney Sprinkle.
- Coyle ended the game with a strikeout looking on a 2-2 pitch.
QUICK HITS
- Coyle (13-1) collected the win after 6.1 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on seven hits and no walks.
- CUI starter Rae Flores (8-1) took her first loss of the season after giving up five runs (one earned) on six walks, three hits and one hit batter.
- Salgado extended her hit streak to six games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the third inning, Gutierrez knocked out a one-out double to left center and later scored on Donnelly's line-drive single to center to give CSUSM a 1-0 lead.
- The Eagles took their first lead of the day on a 2-RBI single by Michalah Robinson in the sixth inning.
- The Cougars rallied back in the seventh inning when pinch hitter Kayla Mack lined a ball off the CUI first baseman's glove for a single to drive in Lombardi to even it at 2-all.
- Back-to-back sacrifice flies by Madison Waymire and Lombardi gave CSUSM back the lead at 4-2.
- CSUSM starter Jayline Sloss got the Eagles to fly out for the final three outs to clinch the win.
QUICK HITS
- Sloss (12-1) recorded the win after tossing her sixth complete game that went an extra inning while allowing two runs on seven hits and striking out three batters.
- CUI ace Kaitlin Entrup (14-3) took the loss, collecting the final two outs in the seventh only to give up two consecutive singles by Donnelly and Sammie Olivio in the eighth that eventually scored on sacrifice flies.
- Gutierrez and Donnelly each nabbed their 14th team-leading multi-hit game of the season.
- This was CUI's first time being swept this season in a doubleheader as the Eagles' previous three losses were recorded at the Tournament of Champions.
- All five of CUI's losses have been against CCAA schools.
