CARSON, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team (6-11, 2-5 CCAA) dropped both ends of its doubleheader at Cal State Dominguez Hills (13-8, 8-3 CCAA) by scores of 17-9 and 7-2 on Saturday at Toro Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM opened the scoring in the top of the first with three RBI singles by Griffin Teisher, Jesus Lopez and Adam Chadwick to take a 3-0 lead.
- The Cougars took a similar approach in the top of the second with a pair of RBI singles by Luke Reece and Ethan Rivera to go up 5-0.
- The Toros broke up the shutout in the bottom of the second inning on a Matt Mecate sacrifice fly to center to make it 5-1.
- CSUSM's sixth RBI single of the afternoon came off the bat of Aiden Richert to put the Cougars up 6-1 in the top of the third.
- Dominguez Hills brought in a couple of runs with a pair of sacrifice flies by Alberto Luevano and Emilio Barrera to make it a 6-3 game in the bottom of the third.
- The Toros put together a seven-run fourth with a grand slam by Scott Ogrin, a two-run homer by Barrera and a run on a wild pitch to take a 10-6 lead.
- CSUDH tallied four more runs in the bottom of the sixth on a wild pitch, an RBI single by Mecate and a two-run single by Ogrin to go up 14-6.
- The Toros scored their final runs in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI double to center by Pierson Loska, a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch and a sacrifice fly to left by Bailey Bordas to make it 17-6.
- The Cougars scored the game's final runs in the top of the ninth on an RBI single by Chadwick and two-run triple down the right field line by Emilio Luna to cut the deficit to 17-9.

- Toro reliever Humberto Chiquito (2-1) earned the win after allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk while striking out one in four innings.

- CSUSM took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning on a solo shot to center by Mark Stanford.
- An RBI triple by Eric Smelko and a two-run homer to right by Scott Ogrin put CSUDH on top at 3-1 in the bottom of the third.
- The Toros took a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single by Matt Mecate.
- Dominguez Hills scored its final three runs in the bottom of the fifth on a CSUSM fielding error, an RBI double to right by Alberto Luevano and an RBI single by Emilio Barrera to go up 7-1.
- An RBI groundout by Aiden Richert in the top of the seventh plated Stanford to make it 7-2. The game came to an end right after on a groundout and strikeout.
