SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The No. 24/12 Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team (18-2, 16-1 CCAA) moved its win streak to 14 consecutive games with an 80-70 win over Stanislaus State (12-8, 7-7 CCAA) on Thursday night in The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars took an early lead 8-2 lead before the Warriors came roaring back to equalize the game at 9-9. CSUSM answered by breaking through the press and Kayden Korst closing it with a wide-open layup.
- Sydney Buckley closed out the first quarter with a fast-break layup to put CSUSM up 18-15.
- In the second quarter, the Cougars went on an 8-2 run to take a 28-19 lead over the Warriors.
- The Cougars ended the second quarter on an 18-2 run to take a 48-26 lead into the break.
- CSUSM shot 55.6% (15-of-27) in the opening half while holding the Warriors to just 39.3% (11-of-28).
- Two Warriors accumulated four fouls in the first 20 minutes of play as the Cougars went to the line 18 times, sinking 15 freebies.
- The Cougars took their largest lead of the third quarter at 6:11 on a layup by Carlson to make it 58-32.
- The Warriors outscored CSUSM 20-19 in the third quarter but still trailed 67-48 to the Cougars with 10 minutes remaining.
- In the fourth quarter, the Warriors closed the gap to 80-70 with 1:25 on the clock, but CSUSM's defense held Stan scoreless for the rest of the game.

FAST BREAKS
- The Cougars went 19-of-22 at the free throw line, their third-best performance among 20 or more chances.
- Hackson's six assists was the fifth time (15th of her career) she tallied five or more this season.
- Carlson's 10 points matched her season high she set at Chico State (Jan. 13).
- CSUSM had a slight edge in rebounds, finishing 33-31.
- The Cougars got 26 points from their bench as all the players who dressed saw action on the court.
- CSUSM committed a season-high 23 turnovers while Stan State finished with 24 – the most by a Cougar opponent this season.
- With their second win over the Warriors this season, CSUSM has now completed seven conference series sweeps in 2021-22.
- The Cougars finished the game shooting 48.2% (25-of-56) – their sixth-best performance of the season. Â
- CSUSM got 26 points from turnovers.
- The Cougars have already clinched a berth to the CCAA Tournament held on the campus of Cal Poly Humboldt in Arcata on March 3-5.
