SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The No. 24/12 Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team (19-2, 17-1 CCAA) kept its win streak alive, moving to 15 consecutive victories with an 82-64 win over visiting Chico State (12-9, 9-7 CCAA) on Saturday afternoon in The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars held a 16-14 lead following the first quarter after shooting 46.2% (6-of-13) while holding the Wildcats to just 27.8% (5-of-18).
- The Wildcats capitalized on CSUSM's seven turnovers by sinking six points in the first 10 minutes. Â
- For the first four minutes of the second quarter, both teams kept the score close before CSUSM went on a 19-0 run capped on a 26-foot pull-up 3-pointer by Forrester to make it 38-21.
- The Wildcats came charging back with a run of their own at 15-4 in the final three minutes to make it 42-36 at the half.
- Chico evened the game at 45-all after a 9-2 run to begin third quarter. Vasquez got a second-chance layup to put CSUSM back on top at 47-45.
- The Cougars went on a 21-2 run to regain the cushion they had lost with one minute remaining in the third quarter.
- CSUSM closed out the third quarter with a 66-47 lead.
- The Cougars took their largest lead of the game at 22 points (79-57) with two minutes remaining when Buckner went in for a layup off a fast break.

FAST BREAKS
- CSUSM's 15 consecutive wins is a program record.
- The Cougars have already clinched a berth to the CCAA Tournament held on the campus of Cal Poly Humboldt in Arcata on March 3-5.
- CSUSM's win percentage moved to .944 while Cal State East Bay's stayed at .933 due to the Pioneers' game against Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday being called a no contest.
- Hackson has collected 20 or more points in seven games this season.
- The Cougars got 19 points off fast breaks and 18 points on second-chance buckets.
- Vasquez recorded her ninth double-double of the season and fifth in the last six games after racking up 21 points and 10 rebounds.
- Both teams recorded 17 turnovers, but CSUSM capitalized on it with 25 points while Chico only recorded 18 points off turnovers.
- CSUSM outrebounded the Wildcats 40-25.
- Chico State's 25 rebounds were the second lowest by an opponent this season.
- CSUSM led for 29:42 of the game and the entire second half while Chico was only on top for 6:53.
- The Cougars shot 52.9% (31-of-57) from the field – their third highest of the season. Â
- CSUSM is now 7-4 in the all-time series against Chico State, claiming victories in the last three meetings.
- Prior to the game, seniors Samantha Custodio, Akayla Hackson and Dominique Hernandez were honored as part of the Senior Day festivities.
