SAN MARCOS, Calif. – With a 74-49 victory over Cal State San Bernardino (7-15, 4-11 CCAA), the RV/No. 16 Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team (16-2, 14-1 CCAA) claimed its 12th straight victory to set a new program record for consecutive wins on Thursday night at The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars trailed 10-6 at the first media time out (4:58) of the opening quarter.
- After being down 13-11 at the end of the first quarter, CSUSM evened it with the first bucket of the second with a jumper by Buckley that sparked a 9-0 run.
- San Bernardino retook the lead with 1:45 remaining in the second quarter on a turnover and fast break by Destiny Jackson to make it 28-27.
- A Kate Carlson layup followed by Kelsey Forrester sinking the backend of her two free throws gave CSUSM a 30-28 lead at halftime.
- After shooting 28.6% from the field in the first 10 minutes, the Cougars bounced back by going 7-of-14 (50%) in the second quarter.
- A Buckley layup put CSUSM up by double digits (50-39) in the third quarter with just over one minute remaining on the clock.
- The Cougars led the entire second half with their largest lead coming on the final basket of the game, a second-chance jumper by Shasta Parker with 43 seconds on the clock to make it 74-49.
- CSUSM went 19-of-33 (57.6%) from the field in the second half while limiting the Coyotes to just 32.1% (9-of-28).
FAST BREAKS
- CSUSM's previous best winning streak of 11 was set in 2019-20, leading the Cougars to clinch a share of the CCAA Regular Season Title.
- Fifty of CSUSM's 74 points came from within the paint while 17 were off CSUSB turnovers.
- The Cougars got 15 points from second-chance shots while holding the Coyotes to nil.
- After being down 13-11 in the first 10 minutes, the Cougars outscored the Coyotes in the final three quarters.
- CSUSM dominated on the board, outrebounding the Coyotes 48-24 with 15 coming on the offensive side.
- The Cougars' 48 total rebounds and 39 defensive rebounds were season highs.
- Vasquez, last week's D2CIDA National Player of the Week, collected her third consecutive double-double and seventh of the season.
- Hackson's 12 points raised her CSUSM career total to 1,036, ranking her fourth on the all-time list. She is six points away from passing Heather Thompson who sits in third on the list.
- Vasquez registered a career-high 16 rebounds in the contest.
- CSUSM has now won five consecutive games against the Coyotes and leads the all-time series 7-3.
