SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Cementing its best start in program history this past weekend, the Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team (11-0, 7-0 CCAA) stayed steady at No. 9 in the NABC Top 25 Coaches Poll while moving up one spot to No. 10 in the D2SIDA Top 25 National Media Poll on Tuesday.

The Cougars returned to The Sports Center on Saturday for the first time since Dec. 4 and came away with their 11th consecutive win in an 88-55 defeat of Sonoma State. CSUSM's 11-game winning streak is the second longest in program history and is the fourth-longest active winning streak in Division II.

CSUSM is still one of five Division II teams without a loss this season, but that number will change on Thursday night as the Cougars head to No. 4/5 Chico State (10-0, 6-0 CCAA) to take on the undefeated Wildcats. A lot will be at stake for both programs, including the top spot in the West Region rankings and sole possession of first place in the CCAA standings. Tipoff between the top-10 powerhouses will commence at 7:30 p.m.
