CHICO, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team (14-12, 11-10 CCAA) earned a gritty 60-58 road win over Chico State (8-18, 6-15 CCAA) on Thursday night at Art Acker Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
- Chico State opened the contest with a pair of early threes to take a 6-2 lead, but Dexter Stratton answered with a three of his own to cut the margin to one.Â
- CSUSM took its first lead at 14-13 on a second-chance layup by Micah Boone at the 9:20 mark.Â
- Veljko Munitlak sparked a 7-2 Cougar run with a floating jumper and a three‑point play, giving CSUSM a 17-15 advantage with 8:33 to go in the half.Â
- The Cougars built a 27-23 lead in the closing minute of the first half before Chico scored at the buzzer, and CSUSM entered the break ahead 27-25 after shooting 36.0% (9-of-25) to the Wildcats' 40.0% (10-of-25).Â
- Early in the second half, both teams traded leads before a 9-3 CSUSM surge—capped by a Nate Simon three—put the Cougars ahead 41-35 with 12:30 remaining.Â
- The Cougars stretched the lead to 55-51 after a Keavie Love fast-break layup and free throw and a Remington Rofer tip‑in layup with 2:06 remaining.Â
- Chico tied the game 58-58 on a corner three from Robel Zemmo with 14 seconds left, setting up the final possession.Â
