SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team (5-3, 2-1 CCAA) dropped its first CCAA match of the year, falling in three sets (14-25, 13-25, 15-25) to No. 24 Cal Poly Pomona (10-0, 3-0 CCAA) on Saturday night at Kellogg Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Broncos took a 13-9 lead in the opening set, forcing CSUSM to take a timeout. Â
- CPP put together a .393 hitting-percentage performance in the first set to the win at 25-14.
- Once again, the Broncos took a commanding lead to begin the second set by jumping out to a 12-5 lead.
- CPP concluded the second frame with a 25-13 win to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
- In the third set, CSUSM took a 5-3 lead on a Grecia Cordero-Barr ace.
- The teams battled back and forth with nine ties and three lead changes.
- A Kelli Miechowicz block evened the set at 13-all.
- CPP responded with an 8-0 run to pull away from the Cougars.
- The Broncos clinched the sweep with a 25-15 third-set win.
