HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams battled back and forth with 13 tie scores and eight lead changes in the opening set.
- Down 14-17, the Cougars went on a 7-2 run capped by a Turner ace to make it 21-19.
- The Coyotes answered with three consecutive points, forcing CSUSM to call a timeout at 22-21 CSUSB.
- A block by Turner and Kelli Miechowicz put CSUSM on top at 23-22.
- Two kills and an ace by the Coyotes gave them the opening set win at 25-23.
- The second set was all CSUSB as the Coyotes hit .415 with 20 kills on 41 attempts and only three errors.
- The Cougars found their spark again in the third set, taking a quick 7-2 lead capped by a Doering kill.
- The Coyotes charged back to even the set at 13-all on a block by Alexis Cardoza and Jenna Patton.
- CSUSB took control of the set, finishing the set at 25-21 to complete the sweep.
