SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team dropped a five-set CCAA heartbreaker (25-18, 22-25, 25-14, 19-25, 11-15) to Stanislaus State on Saturday in The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the opening set, CSUSM put together a five-point run to force the Warriors to take a timeout at 12-8.
- An ace by Doering gave CSUSM set point at 24-18, and Rasmussen put the set away with a kill off the Warrior block.
- Rasmussen tallied six of her 12 kills in the opening set.
- After leading most of the second set, the Cougars found themselves trailing 21-19 to the Warriors. Kills by Kiora Ridgeway and Emily Vander Weide evened the set at 21-all.
- The Warriors evened the match at one set apiece with a 25-21 second-set win.
- CSUSM came out blazin' in the third set, taking a quick 8-0 lead before the Warriors could get on the board.
- At 10-1 in the second frame, CSUSM had a .571 hitting percentage (4k-0e-7ta) with two blocks. Â
- A kill down the right line by Doering put CSUSM up 17-10.
- After dominating the entire third set, the Cougars won it on a Ridgeway tip to the left corner to make it 25-14 and give CSUSM a 2-1 lead in the match.
- In the fourth set, Stan State took a 4-1 lead before the Cougars evened it at 4-all on a Stephanie Adams-Ridgeway block.
- The Warriors went on a roll after that, taking an 11-6 lead to force CSUSM to take a timeout.
- CSUSM was never able to find its rhythm in the fourth set as the Warriors claimed it at 25-19Â to force a fifth set.
- Breaking a 3-all tie, Stan State knocked off three unanswered points to make CSUSM take its first timeout in the fifth set at 6-3 Warriors.
- The Cougars took an 8-7 lead on a block by Ridgeway and Doering.
- Stan State clinched the match with a 15-11 fifth-set win.
