Cougars Make Quick Work of Jacks

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team took care of business on Thursday night in The Sports Center, recording a CCAA sweep (25-9, 25-19, 25-21 ) over Humboldt State.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Cougars wasted no time in the opening set, taking a quick 5-0 lead.
  • CSUSM led wire-to-wire to claim a 25-9 first-set win.
  • In the second set, HSU kept it close until the Cougars broke away at the 9-8 point to go on an 11-3 run and force a Jack timeout.
  • The Jacks posted a small comeback with back-to-back aces to make it 22-17.
  • CSUSM snagged a second-set victory at 25-19 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
  • The Cougars hit an impressive .357 in the second set, tallying 14 kills on 28 attempts while making only four errors.
  • HSU took its first lead of the entire match at 1-0 in the third set on a CSUSM ball handling error.
  • A solo block by Ridgeway made it 5-1 CSUSM.
  • The Jacks closed the gap to 19-16 before the Cougars rattled off four consecutive points.
  • A kill by Rasmussen secured the match as CSUSM collected a 25-21 third-set win.
