SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team split its doubleheader against Saint Katherine with a 6-5 loss and an 11-3 win on Saturday afternoon at CSUSM Baseball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM got the game started on a positive note as Stuka picked up the RBI on a bases-loaded walk before Schuberg put a two-RBI single up the middle to give the Cougars a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
- The Cougars made it a 4-0 game in the bottom of the second as Garcia's RBI double to right center scored Teisher.
- USK made it 4-3 in the top of the third inning as Jake Finley earned an RBI on a ground-rule double down the left field line before Cody Gracco hit a two-RBI single to center.
- An RBI single to left by USK's Brady Ware in the top of the fifth scored Finley and knotted the game at 4-all.
- CSUSM retook the lead in the bottom of the sixth as Emilio Luna scored on a USK error to make it 5-4.
- A solo shot to left by USK's Dylan Jacob evened the game at 5-all in the top of the seventh.
- Still tied at 5-5, the Firebirds' Luciano Depamphilis hit a solo home run to right to give USK a 6-5 lead.
- CSUSM ended the game with a runner in scoring position after a fly out and a ground out.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A two-run single through the left side by Baker Springstun in the top of the first gave USK an early 2-0 lead.
- CSUSM knotted the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the second with an RBI sacrifice bunt by Schuberg and an RBI bunt single by Luna.
- The Firebirds went up 3-2 in the top of the fourth as John Freeman tallied an RBI double to left.
- CSUSM had a big fourth inning as it went up 6-3 on an RBI single by Adam Lovato, an RBI sac bunt by Teisher, a Bahna RBI triple and a USK error that scored Bahna.
- The Cougars went up 10-3 in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI triple to right by Luna, an RBI fielder's choice by Niko Diaz, an RBI triple down the right field line by Teisher and a sacrifice fly to center by Bahna.
- CSUSM plated its final run in the bottom of the sixth as Stuka scored on a bases-loaded wild pitch to give the Cougars an 11-3 lead.
