SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team lost its California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) series against Sonoma State after falling 12-4 and 7-6 in Saturday's doubleheader at CSUSM Baseball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- SSU took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning as Dante Peretti scored Jake Hernandez on a sacrifice fly.
- The Seawolves went up 4-0 in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI double by Isaiah Morales, an RBI single by Hernandez and a CSUSM throwing error.
- Three more runs were scored by SSU in the top of the sixth inning with an RBI double by Hernandez, a bases-loaded walk by Trevor Mallett and another bases-loaded walk by Ben Sanderson.
- Down 7-0, Bahna broke up the shutout with an RBI single up the middle to score Meza in the bottom of the sixth inning.
- The Cougars cut the deficit to 7-4 in the bottom of the seventh with a two-run single through the left side by Bahna and an RBI single to center by Garcia.
- Trevor Mallet's two-run homer to left center in the top of the eighth put the Seawolves up 9-4.
- SSU capped off the scoring in the top of the ninth with an RBI double down the right field line by Joshua Medina and a two-run homer to left by Peretti.

- CSUSM fell to 4-13 (3-8 CCAA) while Sonoma State improved to 5-11 (4-7 CCAA).
- SSU starter Demian White (1-1) earned the win as he tossed three strikeouts in 5.1 innings while allowing one run on four hits and three walks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM quickly got on the board in the bottom of the first inning as Garcia powered a ball over the left field wall to give the Cougars a 2-0 lead.
- SSU put together a six-run inning in the top of the third on a bases-loaded walk, a bases-loaded wild pitch, a CSUSM throwing error and a bases-clearing triple by Bryce Vitt.
- Garcia tallied his third RBI of the day with a sacrifice fly to right in the bottom of the third to score Luna and cut the deficit to 6-3.
- A two-RBI triple to right center by Schuberg in the bottom of the fourth put the Cougars within a run at 6-5.
- SSU's Ben Sanderson reached on an RBI fielder's choice in the top of the seventh to put the Seawolves up 7-5.
- CSUSM tried to mount a come-from-behind win in the bottom of the seventh. With no outs and runners on first and second, the Cougars hit into a 4-6-3 double play and advanced Luna to third. Luna then scored on an RBI single to center by Luc Stuka. The Cougars' potential comeback came to an end as a lineout to short ended the game.
