HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a one-out triple by SF State's Richie Rios in the bottom of the second, an RBI single through the left side by Jason Hare gave the Gators a 1-0 lead.
- The Gators struck pay dirt with seven runs in the bottom of the third to go up 8-0. Riley Cleary hit a two-RBI double to left center before Rudy Aguilar hit a two-RBI single to center. With the bases juiced, a single up the middle by Nick Upstill scored two runs before a CSUSM throwing error scored a third Gator.
- In the bottom of the fifth inning, SF State took a 10-0 lead on a Jonah Gonzales RBI single to center and an RBI double to center by Upstill.
- The Gators tacked on another run in the bottom of the sixth as Kyler Crone scored on an RBI groundout by Hare.
- CSUSM walked home an SF State run in the bottom of the seventh to give the Gators a 12-0 lead.
- Hoping to break up the shutout in the bottom of the ninth, the Cougars had two on with two out, but a fly out to right closed the door and ended the game.
