Stephanie Custodio and
Emma Forel each tallied season highs as the Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team put together a big second half to clinch an 81-70 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) victory over Humboldt State on Saturday afternoon in The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After trailing 22-17 in the first 10 minutes, CSUSM took its first lead in the second quarter on a Custodio jumper at the 1:55 mark.
- There were four lead changes in the final two minutes of the second quarter.
- A pass from Custodio to Forel for the layup made it 37-all at halftime.
- The Jacks took a 40-37 lead out of the break after a Gabrielle Carbajal trey at 9:40.
- Two jumpers by Forel and a Chloe Eackles' 3-pointer went uncontested to give CSUSM the lead at 44-40.
- The Cougars held the lead for the remainder of the game.
- CSUSM shot 71.4% (10-of-14) from the field while limiting the Jacks to 25.0% (4-of-16) in the third quarter.
- The Cougars took their largest lead of the game in the fourth quarter at 81-65 after Eackles sunk a pair of free throws at the 1:22 mark.

- CSUSM continues to sit in second place in the CCAA standings with a conference record of 12-4 (17-4 overall).
- HSU dropped to 7-14 (3-13 CCAA).
- Custodio squashed her previous CSUSM career high of 21 points she set last year at HSU.
- Forel collected her eighth double-double of the season and her seventh in the last nine games.
- CSUSM led for 22:57Â while HSU was on top for 15:32.
- In the second half, the Cougars shot 53.8% (14-of-26) from the field while the Jacks shot 32.4% (11-of-34).
- CSUSM outrebounded HSU 33-28 and had a narrow advantage at the free throw line at 84.0% (21-of-25) to 82.4% (14-of-17).
