Cougars Top Chico State on Road, 69-57

CHICO, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team recorded a 69-57 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) victory at Chico State on Saturday night in Acker Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Cougars held a 14-12 lead after the first 10 minutes of play against Chico State.
  • A layup by Shay Stark with four seconds remaining in the second quarter gave Chico State a 31-30 lead at halftime.
  • CSUSM opened the second half with a 10-2 run to take a 40-33 lead with 4:56 remaining in the third quarter.
  • Hackson scored eight of her 18 points in the third quarter to give the Cougars a 48-44 lead into the final 10 minutes.
  • CSUSM outscored the Wildcats 21-13 in the final quarter, shooting 57.1% (4-of-7) from the field and going 12-of-15 (80%) at the charity stripe to clinch the win.
  • The Cougars took their largest lead of the game at 65-51 with 2:02 on the clock in the fourth quarter on a Buckner layup.

  • CSUSM (18-4) matched the program's single-season record of 18 victories set in 2018-19 and 2011-12.
  • The Cougars remain in second in the CCAA standings, one game behind leader UC San Diego. CSUSM now has a two-game cushion on Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State East Bay who are tied for third.
