COURSE REPORT: In Sacramento, the No. 15 Cal State San Marcos men's cross country team placed sixth at the 2019 Capital Cross Challenge. The race has been deemed as the unofficial Division II Pre-National Meet since that is the location of the season's final race on Nov. 23. The Cougars finished with 252 points on Saturday morning just behind CCAA conference members Chico State(second) and UC San Diego (third).
FINISH LINE
- Joshua Litwiller clocked in with a time of 24:25.7, crossing the finish line first for the Cougars with a 13th place.
- Shea Vavra was next to cross the finish line for CSUSM with a time of 24:43.0, placing him 25th.
- Kibrom Elias secured the 60th slot, running in at 25:01.0, while Kevin Lehr was just eight runners behind Elias at 25:07.3.
- Phillip Dorado finished the course with a time of 25:22.2 earning a 95th place finish.
THOUGHTS FROM COACH OLSON
"This weekend was all about experiencing a big field, and I'm very glad we came out. We have a team with so much talent, potential, and dedication, but so many are either new, or have improved so much recently, that we are light on experience relative to our ability. It was not a perfect day, but it was exactly what we needed to prepare ourselves for what is to come. I think we are coming home from Sacramento thankful for the learning experience and looking forward to the next opportunity to put the pieces together."
