LA JOLLA, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team fell 7-3 to No. 3 UC San Diego in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play on Thursday night at Triton Ballpark.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UCSD took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning with an RBI double to right center by Alex Athanacio and an RBI double to left center by Ryan McNally.
- The Cougars knotted the game at 2-all in the top of the fifth. With runners in scoring position and no outs, Ott hit an RBI single through the right side before Buck delivered a deep sacrifice fly to center.
- The Tritons retook the lead at 6-2 in the bottom of the fifth as they scored on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch, a sacrifice fly to center and a two-run single through the left side while the Cougars committed three errors in the inning.
- A sacrifice fly to left by Domenic Antonacci with one out in the top of the sixth scored Andrew Garcia and cut the deficit to 6-3.
- UCSD once again went up by four runs in the bottom of the sixth as Shay Whitcomb hit an RBI double into right.
