IRVINE, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team dropped both games of its doubleheader at Concordia Irvine by scores of 6-3 and 7-1 on Saturday afternoon at Eagles Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM got the scoring started in the top of the second as Rico hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Marcus Wilhite from third.
- CUI's Cooper Moore hit a solo shot to right to knot the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth.
- An RBI single to center by Haloa Dudoit put the Eagles up 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth.
- A sacrifice fly to center by CUI's Shane Hersh put the Eagle up 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth. CSUSM reliever Brady Corson came on and got the Cougars out of a bases-loaded jam with two outs.
- CUI went up 6-1 in the bottom of the eighth as Matt Lautz hit an RBI single into right before a two-RBI single by Tony Garcia III that also went into right.
- With the bases loaded and one out in the top of the ninth, Austin Ott hit a sac fly into right to score Griffin Teisher. This was followed by an RBI single by Buck that scored Diggs from second to cut the deficit to 6-3.
- After Andrew Garcia delivered a pinch-hit single to load the bases with two outs, a fly ball to right ended the game.

- The Cougars dropped to 4-1 on the season while the Eagles moved to 1-3.
- CSUSM starter Taylor Greene took the loss and moved to 1-1 on the season after throwing 5.1 innings with two strikeouts while allowing three runs on five hits and two walks.
- CUI starter Brent Vansant (1-1) took the win after throwing six innings with two strikeouts while allowing just one run on four hits and two walks.
- The Cougars outhit the Eagles 10-9 but left 12 runners on base compared to CUI's six.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Scoreless through 2.5 innings, that all changed in the bottom of the third as CUI scored four runs on two RBI singles and a two-RBI double.
- Antonacci scored the Cougars' lone run of the game on wild pitch.
- The Eagles made it a six-run game in the bottom of the fifth after Jair Donovan hit a two-RBI single to right. Donovan then scored as CUI grounded into a double play.

- The Cougars took their first series loss of the season and dropped to 4-2 while the Eagles improved to 2-3.
- CSUSM starter Dylan Wannamaker (1-1) took the loss as he allowed four runs on four hits in three innings of work while striking out two.
- Mason Corneliussen, Tyler Venturelli and Jared Dinisi each pitched one inning of relief and combined for one hit allowed.
- CUI starter Alex Zalasky (1-0) threw a complete seven-inning game as he struck out two and allowed just one run on six hits and two walks.
