SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team swept its season-opening series against MSU Denver with a 5-4 victory on Sunday afternoon at David Wells Field in Point Loma.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM got the scoring underway early as Buck delivered a three-run jack to right to put the Cougars up 3-0 in the first inning.
- MSU Denver cut the deficit to 3-1 in the top of the second as Zach Paschke hit an RBI single through the right side.
- A two-RBI triple by Cade Peters in the top of the third knotted the game at 3-3.
- An RBI single down the right-field line by Garcia scored Austin Ott to give the Cougars a 4-3 lead.
- A sacrifice fly to center by MSU Denver's Zach Walsh scored Paschke from third to tie the game once again at 4-4.
- CSUSM took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth thanks to an RBI double to left center by Bahna that scored Garcia.
- Wannamaker (1-0) pitched three hitless innings of relief with two strikeouts to earn the win while MSU Denver's Cade Crader (0-1) took the loss.
- Ott came on to close in the top of the ninth and worked his way out of a jam to earn his first save of the season.
