SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team suffered a 69-66 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) heartbreaker to Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday afternoon at The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Cougars trailed 31-30 at halftime despite shooting 44.4 percent from the field to CSUDH's 40.0 field-goal percentage.
• CSUSM led just twice in the second half, both by two points in the ninth minute of play.
• The Toros went on a 12-0 run, leading 59-49 with 6:44 remaining in the second half.
• The Cougars answered with a 15-7 run of their own to even it at 66-66, capping it with a 3-pointer by Sloan with 20 seconds on the clock.
• Alex Garcia sunk a 3-pointer in the corner with three seconds remaining to clinch the victory for the Toros.

• The Cougars fall to 6-18 overall and 3-15 in conference action while CSUDH improved to 12-11, 10-8 CCAA.
• CSUSM shot its second-highest field goal percentage of the season at 48.3 percent.
• The Cougars went to the free throw line only 12 times, their second-lowest attempts of the season.
• CSUSM won the battle of the boards, pulling down 35 to CSUDH's 21.
• The Toros tallied 10 3-pointers, shooting 40.0 percent (10-of-25) from behind the arc.
• CSUDH's three-point margin of victory is the smallest by a CSUSM opponent this season.
• Elliott narrowly missed out on recording his seventh double-double of the season, finishing with 17 points and nine rebounds.
• Both teams got less than 10 points from their bench with CSUDH recording nine and CSUSM notching six.
• Thirty-eight of CSUSM's 60 points came in the paint.
