SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team surged in the second half against Cal State L.A. to take an 82-70 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) win on Thursday night at The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
	- Poor free throw shooting (1-of-7) in the first half resulted in the Cougars trailing 34-32 at the break
- A 3-pointer by Soffer at the 1:50 mark gave CSUSM a 72-67 lead, but CSULA quickly responded with its own three by Fard Muhammad six seconds later.
- Another 3-pointer by Soffer put the Cougars up by five once again at 75-70 with just under a minute remaining.
- CSUSM closed out the game on a 10-0 run, with Soffer generating six of the Cougars' 10 points.
- CSULA committed 12 turnovers and 15 fouls in the second half alone.
- The Cougars were an impressive 19-of-21 (90.5%) from the free throw line in the second half.
FAST BREAKS
	- CSUSM improves to 6-17 (3-14 CCAA) while CSULA drops to 13-11 (9-9 CCAA).
- The Cougars ended the game shooting 42.2 percent (27-of-64) from the field while the Golden Eagles came in at 38.8 percent (26-of-67).
- CSUSM made its second-most free throws this season as it finished with 20.
- The Golden Eagles' 20 turnovers were the second-most by a CSUSM opponent this season.
- The Cougars' 50 points in the second half tied for the second most in a game this season.
- Both sides traded the lead 14 times while tying 12 times.
