Jon'Nae Vermillion of women's basketball have been named the Cal State San Marcos Student-Athletes of the Month for November 2019.

The CSUSM Student-Athletes of the Month awards are determined through a vote of all Department of Athletics coaches, administrators and staff. Each in-season program nominates a student-athlete to be considered for the award each month.

Litwiller won the NCAA Division II West Regional with a time of 29:54.3 on Nov. 9 in Monmouth, Oregon. He became CSUSM's first West Region individual champion in program history. For his efforts, he was also named the West Region Runner of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). At the NCAA Division II National Championships in Sacramento, Litwiller placed 17th and earned All-America honors – the first male runner in program history to do so.

Vermillion led the red-hot women's basketball team with 13.1 points per game and 10.0 rebounds per game in the Cougars' 7-0 start to the 2019-20 season. She was one of two players to average a double-double in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Vermillion scored 23 points on two separate occasions against Point Loma and then-No. 11/11 Minnesota State-Moorhead. She also tallied a team-best 11 steals for the month. After the Cougars' successful trip to Hawaii over Thanksgiving break, Vermillion earned CCAA Player of the Week honors for the first time.

While Litwiller's cross country season has ended, Vermillion and the rest of the women's basketball team will return to CCAA play by hosting Sonoma State on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in The Sports Center.
