COURSE REPORT: The No. 15 Cal State San Marcos men's cross country team placed 12th out of 34 teams in their first appearance at the NCAA Division II National Championships. Joshua Litwiller concluded his collegiate campaign with a 17th-place finish, landing him All-American honors.

FINISH LINE

• Litwiller was the first to cross the finish line for the Cougars with a time of 30:15.8, placing him in the top 20 out of 263 runners.
• Shea Vavra finished three places short of earning All-American honors, clocking a time of 30:54.1 to secure a 43rd-place finish.
• Kevin Lehr was next for the Cougars at 31:36.4 in the 100th slot.
• Kibrom Elias (150th) and Phillip Dorado (158th) finished the 10k course at 32:00.1 and 32.07.3, respectively.
• Concluding his freshman campaign, Trevor Boaz (248th) registered a time of 34:08.6.
• Rounding out the Cougars squad, Robert Marin (259th) finished the race at 34:49.3.
• American National's freshman, Ezra Mutai, was named NCAA Division II Champion as he finished the course at 29:31.2.

THOUGHTS FROM COACH OLSON
"Today was a historic day for our program. To have the opportunity to bring a group of student-athletes competing at their first national championship is truly special. The challenge of the depth of the field that NCAA cross country brings is unlike anything else in the regular season and our men handled it very well today. To place 12th for the first time to the dance is truly impressive and a testament to the maturity and dedication of our group. It will also be immensely helpful to have this experience in our program moving forward. From an individual standpoint, Joshua Litwiller and Shea Vavra each ran gritty efforts throughout. Joshua was recognized with our first All-American honor, and Shea was three spots away in what is certainly his best race to date. I'm heading home a very proud coach and excited for what is to come with these guys."
