SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The men's and women's golf teams will be teeing off at the 2018 Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout in Pleasanton on Monday and Tuesday. The CSUSM baseball and softball teams head north to compete against San Francisco State and Sonoma State, respectfully, this weekend. The men's and women's track & field teams are in action on Saturday in the Oxy Distance Invitational hosted by Occidental College.

- CSUSM is 1-8 all-time against the Seawolves.
- The Cougars dropped all four games to SSU last season by scores of 7-0, 4-1, 2-0 and 4-1.

- CSUSM is 2-2 all-time against the Gators.
- SF State took two of three games from the Cougars last season in San Marcos. SF State clinched game one of the series, 14-8, CSUSM answered with a game two win, 5-3 before the Gators won the series finale, 3-0.
- Jason Hare (.344) and Jackson Kritsch (.339) lead the team in batting average while Jeff Piver (1-0) leads the starting pitchers with a 2.61 ERA in three starts on the mound.
- As a team, the Gators rank last in the CCAA in batting (.230 AVG) but fourth in pitching (3.93 ERA).
CSUSM BREAKDOWN
- The Cougars went 3-1 last week en route to their first conference series win of the season.
- Junior Marcus Wilhite finished 7-for-19 and hit .368 with a team-highs in doubles (5), RBIs (8) and total bases (12) in the four-games. Sophomore Anthony Rodriguez tallied six hits in 17 at-bats (.353 Avg) with four runs, three doubles and three RBIs for the series. Junior Taylor Greene (4-0) led the pitching staff with a 1.08 era in two appearances including a start while classmate Troy Lamparello (3-1) worked a seven-inning complete game on Sunday in the team's 4-2 win.
- Senior Tyler Place (.596) and junior Austin Ott (.587) rank eighth and ninth in the CCAA in slugging percentage while fellow junior Marcus Wilhite is seventh in RBIs with 13.
- As a team, CSUSM ranks fifth in batting (.286 avg) and eighth in pitching (5.29 era).
