ARCATA, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team dropped an 84-75 decision at Humboldt State on Thursday night in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play.
The Cougars outshot the Lumberjacks 52.9 percent to 44.4 percent from the field. The downfall for the Cougars were the second chance points as HSU racked up 14 to CSUSM's two.
CSUSM falls to 7-11 in CCAA and 7-15 overall while the Jacks move up to 12-6 overall, 13-10 in conference.
Senior
Savannah Camp led CSUSM's offense with 25 points, going 10-of-16 from the field, while pulling down five rebounds. Seniors
Raegan Lillie and
Kaitlyn Reina each contributed 14 points. Junior
Juliet Jones added seven points and three assists.
Trailing 44-31 at the break, the Cougars outscored the Jacks, 23-19 ,in the final quarter. CSUSM closed the gap to 76-72 on a Camp layup with 2:33 remaining. HSU responded with an 8-3 run to clinch the win.
HSU's Tyra Turner recorded a game-high 32 points and eight rebounds.
The Cougars conclude their 2018 CCAA regular season road schedule on Saturday, Feb. 17 at Chico State. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
