SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team fought hard against the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) second place Cal Poly Pomona Broncos but eventually fell 72-68 on Saturday night in The Sports Center.
The Cougars won three of the four quarters, but a 22-11 third quarter win by CPP made all the difference.
CSUSM falls to 7-15 overall and 7-11 in conference action while the Broncos move up to 16-8, 13-6 in CCAA play.
Senior
Savannah Camp posted a game-high 25 points, going 6-of-10 from the field and 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. Sophomore
Brianna Porter tallied 13 points and nine rebounds in the game. Junior
Juliet Jones added 11 points.
The Cougars led by as many as 13 points in the second quarter after they opened with a 10-3 run. CSUSM closed out the first half with a 36-31 lead.
CSUSM was outrebounded 46-30 including a 19-6 advantage on the offensive boards.
Chelsea Waddy-Blow led CPP's offense with 23 points while pulling down eight rebounds.
The Cougars make their final regular season road trip of the season next week with stops at Humboldt State on Thursday before facing Chico State on Saturday. Both games tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
