CSUSM Drops 88-82 Decision at CSUDH

CARSON, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team fell 88-82 in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) contest to Cal State Dominguez Hills on Monday afternoon at the Torodome.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a slow start, the Cougars evened the game at 21-21 on a pair of Forel free throws at the end of the first quarter.
  • Vermillion tallied 13 points in the second quarter as the Cougars took a 42-41 lead into the locker room.
  • CSUDH went on a 7-1 run out of a media timeout in the third quarter to take a 62-54 lead, forcing CSUSM to call a 30-second timeout.
  • A 3-pointer by Hackson cut CSUDH's lead to 78-75 with 4:02 remaining in the game.
  • At 2:27, a Buckner free throw made it a two-point game (80-78), but the Toros responded with a 4-0 run.
  • CSUDH concluded the game shooting 40.0 percent (32-80) from the field while CSUSM put up 38.9 percent (28-72)

  • The Cougars drop to 7-4 (4-3 CCAA) while the Toros move up to 7-4 (3-2 CCAA).
  • CSUSM held the advantage in assists (16-13), 3-point field goal percentage (46.2-30.0), free throw percentage (71.4-65.6) and bench points (25-24)
  • CSUDH led 76.8 percent of the game while CSUSM was on top for 16.4 percent.
  • Forel collected her third consecutive double-double and fourth of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Hackson tallied her second consecutive 20-plus point game after recording 22 points in the 89-87 triple-overtime victory at CSULA on Saturday night.
