CARSON, Calif. – Before ringing in 2019, the Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team fell 86-74 to Cal State Dominguez Hills in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play on New Year's Eve at the Torodome.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Cougars were outscored 37-32 in the first half despite putting up the better field-goal percentage at 37.9 (11-of-29) compared to the Toros' 32.3 (10-of-31).
• CSUDH went 11-of-14 from the charity stripe in the first 20 minutes.
• Elliott led all scorers with 10 points in the first half.
• The Toros posted their largest lead of the half at 34-24 with 3:42 left in the period.
• CSUDH outscored CSUSM 49-42 in the final 20 minutes.
• The Toros ended the game shooting 43.9 percent (25-of-57) from the field while the Cougars came in at 36.7 percent (22-of-60).
• Of CSUDH's 25 made field goals, 16 came from beyond the arc.
• CSUSM's largest deficit of the game came at 80-60 with 4:27 left in regulation.
• The Toros tallied 61 points off the bench compared to the Cougars' seven.
• Only 12 of CSUDH's 86 points came from the paint.

• CSUSM falls to 3-10 (0-7 CCAA) while CSUDH improves to 6-4 (4-1 CCAA).
• For Elliott, this was his fourth double-double of the season with a season-high 21 points along with 10 rebounds.
• Soffer was one point off the career-high 22 points he scored last season against CSUDH, but he tallied a new career high with nine rebounds.
• The Cougars committed fewer turnovers at 17 compared to the Toros' 21.
• CSUSM held the advantage in steals (10-9) and points off turnovers (18-13) while committing fewer personal fouls (33-24).
