LA MIRADA, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team opened its 2018-19 season with a 64-58 loss at Biola on Friday afternoon at Chase Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars built up a 20-9 lead with 6:17 left in the first half, but Biola chipped away at the CSUSM lead with a 12-2 run to end the half.
- CSUSM went to halftime with a 22-21 advantage over Biola after going 10-of-28 (35.7%) in the period.
- The Cougars went up 29-23 to begin the second half, but the Eagles reeled them in and took the lead at 36-35 with 12:59 left to play.
- After a three by Soffer gave the Cougars a 49-48 lead with 5:56 remaining, the Eagles took the lead for good at 50-48 after a jumper by Biola's Alex Wright with 5:21 left.
- Biola's largest lead of the game came with 1:02 left to play at 61-54 as Michael Bagatourian sank a free throw.
