Box Score 2 CHICO, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team dropped a pair of California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) games to No. 1 Chico State on Saturday at Nettleton Stadium. The final scores were 10-3 and 18-4.
The Cougars fall to 13-17 overall and 3-15 in conference play. The Wildcats improve to 26-5 on the season and 19-1 in CCAA action.

The Cougars and Wildcats will face each other in the series finale at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 2.
GAME 1: No. 1 Chico State 10 – CSUSM 3
The Cougars jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the opening frame on Dvorak's RBI double down the left line that scored Place who reached on a walk.
The Wildcats evened the game in the bottom of the frame when Dillion Kelley doubled to the same place Dvorak did.
CSUSM once again got on top in the third inning. Place hit a one out double and later scored on a sophomore catcher
Isaias Torres single up the middle.
Chico took advantage of a CSUSM error in the fourth inning to even the game at 2-2.
The Wildcats took their first lead of the game in the seventh inning, putting up six runs on five hits and one Cougar error. Chico tacked on two more runs in the eighth.
Senior
Taylor Ahearn (4-5) took the loss after 6.2 innings, relinquishing six runs (five earned) on eight hits and three walks. Chico State's Steven Baker improved to 4-0 after recording only one out in the contest.
GAME 2: No. 1 Chico State 18 – CSUSM 4
The Wildcats posted five runs in the second frame and never looked back. Jimbo Pernetti hit a two-run homer to extend Chico's lead to 7-0 in the third inning.
CSUSM scored twice in the fourth inning to make it 7-2. Dvorak drew a walk, advanced to third on a single by Torres and plated on a passed ball. Torres touched home after freshman outfielder
Jose Osete laid down a bunt single.
The Wildcats put the game out of reach with four runs in the fifth and an additional seven runs highlighted by Trevor Steinman's grand slam in the seventh.
The Cougars recorded two more runs in their final at bat. Junior second baseman
Nico Maida hit a RBI single to third base and freshman Reed LeBar was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
Senior
Hayden Weir (2-2) took the loss after 4.2 innings of work. Chico State's Casey Costello improved to 7-0 after five innings on the hill.
