THE COUGARS AT A GLANCE
- CSUSM went 2-0 in its last two conference games.
- Down by one point entering the fourth quarter, the Cougars outscored San Francisco State 22-13 in the final 10 minutes to earn a 73-65 win on Jan. 26. Junior guard Savannah Camp led CSUSM with 25 points on 8-of-15 shooting.
- The Cougars posted another comeback performance in their 58-49 victory over visiting Sonoma State on Jan. 28.
- CSUSM leads the CCAA in blocked shots, averaging 3.79 a game.
- Junior forward Lupe Cruz leads the conference this season with 25 blocks.
RUNDOWN OF STANISLAUS STATE
- CSUSM is 0-2 against Stanislaus State in the all-time series.
- The Warriors are fighting to finish in the top four in the conference standings so they can host the CCAA Tournament first round.
- Stan State collected back-to-back wins at San Francisco State (65-57) and Sonoma State (52-46) last weekend after dropping three consecutive games to end the month of January.
- Cassidy Sanders-Curry and Reana Hardin rank No. 9 and No. 10 in CCAA scoring, averaging 13.1 and 12.8 points per game, respectively.
CHICO STATE BREAKDOWN
- The Cougars holds a 2-1 advantage over the Wildcats in the all-time series.
- In front of their largest crowd to date, the Cougars took down Chico State, 63-61, on Homecoming Night on Dec. 3 at The Sports Center. Junior guard Raegan Lillie poured in a team-high 14 points in the contest.
- Chico State leads the conference in scoring defense, holding its opponents to 57.5 points per game.
- Whitney Branham is third in the CCAA in scoring, averaging 15.2.
THE CCAA CONFERENCE
- Cal State San Marcos is a part of the 13-team California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Conference, made up of 12 Cal State institutions and UC San Diego.
- The CCAA is one of the premier NCAA Division II conferences in the nation. Its teams have won more national championships (153) than any other conference.
THE JIMENEZ FILE
- Head coach Renee Jimenez enters her second season in charge of the Cougar women's basketball team, a program that is only in its sixth season of existence.
- Jimenez has compiled a 132-89 in her eight seasons coaching in the CCAA, spending two seasons at Cal State San Bernardino after a five-year stint at Cal State Monterey Bay.
