SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team recorded a convincing 93-64 win over San Diego Christian on Saturday night at The Sports Center.
Senior
Josh Spiers finished with a game-high 30 points after going 11-of-15 from the field including a team high seven made three-pointers (7-of-11). CSUSM as a team shot 55.6 percent (35-of-63) for the game including 58.6 percent from beyond the arc and a season-best 14 three's (14-of-29).
CSUSM has now won four straight games and improves to 5-1 on the season while SDC falls to 2-6 on the year.
The Cougars defense held SDC to just 37.5 percent (21-of-56) shooting from the field and forced 10 turnovers from the Hawks. Senior
Collin Host led the team with three steals.
Four Cougars finished in double-digits offensively including, Spiers (30), junior
Dalton Soffer (15), Host (11) and senior
Chris Porter (11). Sophomore
Jason Simmrin finished with nine points, five rebounds and three assists in 19 minutes.
CSUSM opens California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play on Thursday, Nov. 30 as they host Cal State East Bay at The Sports Center. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
