SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Three Cal State San Marcos student-athletes have been named Student-Athletes of the Month for their outstanding performances throughout the month of October.
Kayla Anderson of the women's soccer team earned Female Student-Athlete of the Month, while Victor Gonzalez from the men's soccer team and
Joshua Litwiller of the men's cross-country team were selected as Co-Male Student-Athletes of the Month.
The CSUSM Student-Athlete of the Month awards are determined through a vote of all Department of Athletics coaches, administrators and staff. Each in-season program nominates a student-athlete to be considered for the award each month. Gonzalez and Litwiller tied in the voting.
Anderson, a senior forward from Las Vegas, Nev., scored a team-best two goals and had an assist in nine matches played in October. She finished the month with five points and 14 total shots while also scoring the game-winning goal on the road against Humboldt State in a 1-0 match.
Gonzalez, a senior defender from Palm Desert, scored two goals on four total shots while playing in five matches in the month of October.
Litwiller, a sophomore from Carlsbad, collected All-CCAA accolades after recording an eighth place finish at the CCAA Championships.
