Seniors Stellar in SFSU SeriesBrogan Hoenisch, Caylyn Rodrigruez and
Melyssa Bellamy were impressive at the plate for the Cougars in their four-game set against the Gators. Hoenisch hit .412 (7-for-17) with a pair of doubles and four RBI, while Rodriguez batted (.400) (6-for-15) with five RBI, two doubles and four runs scored. Bellamy was 6-for-16 (.375) with an RBI and three runs scored. CSUSM celebrated senior day last Saturday against the Gators.

All-time vs. CUI: 8-15 (.348)
Last time vs. CUI: L, 0-6 & L, 4-5 (Feb. 5, 2016); The Eagles held the Cougars to four hits while combining for three home runs in the game one loss. In game two, the Cougars had the go-ahead run at the plate with no outs and two runners aboard in the top of the seventh, but a key double play by CUI shut the Cougar rally down.
CUI Breakdown: The Eagles, also in their first year of NCAA Division II competition, have dropped three of four heading into a Wednesday tilt against Chaminade. Ryann Ferguson leads CUI with a .419 average, one of four Eagles to be hitting better than .333. Grayson Harvey and BethAnn McCann have a 1.09 and 1.12 ERA to this point, respectively.

Laurie Nevarez is in her third season at the helm of the Cougars in 2016. Hired in 2014, Nevarez has put together an 80-52-1 (.605) record in her first two years while mentoring 13 all-conference selections. Over her 12-year, head-coaching career, Nevarez has put together a 399-168-2 (.703) overall record. Prior to her time at CSUSM, Nevarez coached NCAA Division III Redlands for 10 seasons.
New TerritoryAfter nine seasons of competition in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Cougars enter their first season of NCAA Division II competition in 2015-16. CSUSM is currently in the second year of a three-year transition to full NCAA Division II membership. As a part of the transition, the Cougars will be ineligible for postseason play in 2016 and 2017.
